The Imperfect Choice

Honest trade-offs: coordination in exchange for performance

To be fast, something must be coordinated. To be cheap, something must be optimized. Freyr knew, every god knows, that absolute perfection is an altar where utility is sacrificed. Alfheim was not born pretending to purity. It was born acknowledging trade-offs with honesty.

Freyr summoned Twenty-One. Not just any twenty-one, but the most aligned, the most committed to the realm's flourishing. His Inner Council. Those who would validate each transaction, each contract, each movement of value in Alfheim. Proof of Staked Authority, the technical name for an ancient principle: responsibility concentrated in chosen hands, rotated, incentivized to act with honor.

The purists questioned. *"Twenty-one is not enough,"* said the children of Asgard, accustomed to thousands of miners competing for each block. *"Decentralization is sacred,"* echoed the disciples of Midgard, where any node could participate. Freyr answered with the silence of farmers: one plants with the soil at hand, not the soil one imagines.

The Council of Twenty-One was not closure. It was commitment. A conscious choice of coordination in exchange for performance. Declared transparency about the limits. Freyr did not seek theoretical perfection. He sought real utility, and utility accepts boundaries when those boundaries are honest.

Alfheim was born knowing what it was. And in that awareness it found a freedom that perfect realms never reach: the freedom to serve without illusion.
