Canto I: Zeus Observes Asgard
Zeus observes Bitcoin through a magical eagle and comprehends the power of sovereign immobility.
From the summit of Olympus, where clouds serve as staircases and gold gleams in eternal torrents, Zeus extended his massive arm and touched the brow of his eagle, that creature of dual vision that sees both past and future, and commanded: go north. Observe that realm that does not bend, that does not negotiate, that does not accept amendments to its sacred code. Observe Asgard. Observe Bitcoin.
The eagle crossed the years and saw miners turning energy into verifiable work. It saw MicroStrategy begin buying Bitcoin in August 2020, and El Salvador adopt it as legal tender in September 2021. The signs arrived at different times, but Zeus recognized Asgard’s growing influence in them.
Zeus laughed before that patient strength. Asgard did not reject every change: SegWit in 2017 and Taproot in 2021 had expanded its tools. What struck the king was how carefully its inhabitants examined each alteration. Continuity of a promise could coexist with new ways to fulfill it.
The eagle returned. And Zeus knew then his first fear. It was not fear that Odin would destroy his realm. It was fear that Odin had comprehended something Zeus had not yet completely articulated: that there exists a kind of power that grows precisely by not attempting to grow. That there exists a kind of trust built precisely by refusing convenience. That Bitcoin had found the deepest niche of all, the niche of money that tries to be nothing beyond money.
In January 2021, when Bitcoin's price exceeded $40,000 for the first time and institutions like BlackRock and Fidelity began studying exposure products, Zeus observed and comprehended: Odin was not competing with him. Odin was building something different, not faster, not more versatile, but deeper. And depth, Zeus admitted in silence, was a form of power that speed could not replace.
What power residing in absolute immobility.
