Third Canto: The Exodus and the Golden Chain

TRON becomes its own blockchain, marking the moment Justin Sun declares independence from Ethereum.

In the forges of 2017 and 2018, Hephaestus assembled tools for TRON. Ethereum already offered contracts and languages built by many contributors, and he studied what he could use. Consensus, execution and compatibility shaped his work. Zeus had asked for roads mortals could use, not a solitary invention.

The DPoS consensus mechanism, Delegated Proof of Stake, was not TRON's invention, but TRON made it its own. While Bitcoin demanded millions of dollars in mining equipment and Ethereum consumed megawatts of energy, TRON created a system where any holder could vote for Super Representatives and participate in governance without needing a warehouse full of specialized hardware. It was democracy for the blockchain age.

The establishment trembled. Bitcoin maximalists predicted TRON's immediate collapse. Ethereum intellectuals wrote papers explaining why DPoS was technically inferior. The banking sector worried about competition to their correspondent systems. But they all missed the central truth: TRON was not being built for philosophers or engineers. It was being built for the billions of people who had a phone and wanted to transact.

On the network taking shape in 2018, transactions would consume bandwidth and, for contracts, energy. Resources from staking or other mechanisms could reduce TRX burning, but token transfers were not universally free. USDT-TRC20 would arrive in 2019. Zeus prepared the roads before that commerce arrived.

And as TRON grew, something unexpected happened. The people whom the traditional blockchain world had ignored began to build. Merchants created payment channels. Entrepreneurs launched games. Developers, finally freed from the constraints of Ethereum's gas limits and Satoshi's protocol rigidity, built the future that had always been theoretically possible but practically impossible.

True decentralization is not a property of a blockchain; it is a consequence of usefulness.
