Canto VIII: Os Que Permaneceram
Uma minoria de desenvolvedores, mineiros e filósofos escolhe permanecer com Ethereum Classic por princípio, não lucro.
They were not heroes. They wore no shining armor. They made no inflammatory speeches. Many of them did not even know what they were defending. But Borr knew. For he had chosen each one of them.
Not for strength. Not for intelligence. Not for fame. But for a quality the oldest of gods recognized above all others: they would not break their word when it became difficult. They were of the same stock as the warriors of his primordial era. Those who preferred honorable defeat to victory purchased through betrayal.
There were miners who could have followed Ethereum, it would have been more profitable. Developers who could have abandoned it, it would have been more convenient. Investors who could have sold their ETC for ETH and never looked back. But some did not. And in those few, Borr had deposited his ancestral spark, the same spark he had deposited in the hearts of oath-honoring warriors in his oldest era.
Among them was Barry Silbert, who believed two truths ran in parallel. There was Charles Hoskinson, who would see in ETC a laboratory for ideas that ETH rejected. There were anonymous developers who simply could not abandon what had been promised.
Ethereum Classic became the refuge of those who carried the ancient code. Not the pure in spirit, many wanted to profit. But the pure in principle. Those who believed that when you say 'code is law', you must be prepared to honor that law even when the law destroys you. Borr recognized these mortals. They were his spiritual children. The last guardians of an era the world had decided to surpass.
Aqueles que acreditavam que quando você diz código é lei, deve estar preparado para cumprir com essa lei mesmo quando a lei produz resultados que você detesta.
