The Realms That Recognized
The mortal world tries to domesticate that which cannot be governed
For a long time, the realms of Midgard ignored the flame. They laughed at it; called it fantasy, risk, and threat. For everything that is not born within palaces seems small to the eyes of those who govern.
But the flame did not diminish. Block after block. Winter after winter. Fall after fall. It remained. And that which remains is eventually seen. First came the observers. They studied the structure. They measured the reach. They tried to find weaknesses. They found no center; they found no leader. They found no door to close.
Then came recognition. Reluctant, silent, inevitable. The realms understood: it could not be destroyed. It could not be prohibited. It could not be shut down. For it did not inhabit a territory. It inhabited time.
Then arose the oldest human impulse: to domesticate. To build frames. To create acceptable versions. To translate the flame into old systems. Institutions opened doors. Not out of devotion, but out of necessity.
But the essence remained intact. For that which was born decentralized does not bend to centralization. The old system acknowledged it, but it did not absorb it. It never will. For the flame does not belong to the realms. It simply exists.
Institutional adoption unfolded in distinct stages. MicroStrategy announced its first Bitcoin purchase in August 2020; Tesla disclosed a purchase in February 2021. These were treasury allocations, not conversions of all corporate funds. In September 2021, Bitcoin became legal tender in El Salvador. This canto depicts that moment without treating later corporate or government choices as immutable destinies.
