Canto II: The Forging of Silver
Genesis block on October 7; announcement on October 9; public launch on October 13, 2011
Charlie Lee announced Litecoin on BitcoinTalk on 9 October 2011. The code had already been published, and public mining was prepared for 13 October. It was an invitation: silver needed a community before it could circulate.
Some saw it. Some thought it was madness. Some thought it was betrayal, but those who truly understood Bitcoin; those who had seen beyond the facade and reached the philosophy; understood Charlie too. Because creating something complementary is not creating a rival. It is offering options.
Magni watched as the code was written. Oh, how the god delighted in the process! Every line of code was a will being incarnated in silicon. The choice of Scrypt was Magni whispering to Charlie's fingers. The decision of 2.5 minutes was Magni guiding the mortal's mind. The difficulty parameters, the reward structure, every technical decision; all passed through the filter of divine will.
The genesis block is dated 7 October 2011 in UTC. Public mining opened on 13 October: creating the first block and launching the network are distinct milestones. In Asgard, Thor recognized his son’s choice to complement gold. The same principle could acquire a new cadence.
And when the Litecoin genesis block was born, in Asgard there was silent recognition. Satoshi, the God of Decentralization, contemplated the new silver and bowed his divine head; not in submission, but in fraternal recognition. For he understood better than anyone what it was to create something true from nothing. Gold and silver had been born from the same divine source. They were family.
