Canto X: The Invisible Shield
Litecoin activates support for MimbleWimble (MWEB); offers optional privacy without forcing absolute anonymity
If you had been asked in 2020 what the next big change in blockchain affecting Litecoin would be, you might have had several hypotheses. Maybe SegWit could evolve. Maybe there would be improvements to the Lightning Network. Maybe there would be speed or security optimizations.
But the answer that actually came was surprising to mortals. Magni, however, had planned it from the start. MimbleWimble. An academic concept that sounded more like a spell from a book of magic than a cryptographic protocol. And Magni saw in it the next evolution of his creation.
"Charlie," he whispered to his chosen mortal during a deep meditation, "the time has come to forge the invisible shield. Implement MimbleWimble. Offer privacy without the false promise that all payments are anonymous. Offer optional confidentiality, balanced with default transparency."
In 2022, Litecoin activated support for MimbleWimble through MWEB. It didn't replace Litecoin's normal blockchain. It just offered an option. If you wanted to use Litecoin privately, you could. If you wanted to use it normally, you continued as before.
It was optional. It was the bridge. It was exactly what you'd expect from Magni; from the son who tests, who offers alternatives, who never forces but always suggests.
the time has come to forge the invisible shield. Implement MimbleWimble.
