Canto XI: The Son Who Survives
Litecoin completes 14 years of continuous existence, surviving every bear market since 2011
In 2025, it's easy to look back and say: "Of course Litecoin survived. It's obvious." But for anyone who lived through 2018, 2019, 2021, or any of the various bear markets, it was not obvious. Absolutely not obvious.
There is an old truth among the gods: "What Remains After Ragnarok". Not everything survives. In fact, much dies, but some gods continue. Modi and Magni, Thor's sons, continue after the destruction. Vidr and Vali continue. Some do not manage to, and the difference between who survives and who doesn't; is often about character, not brute force.
Litecoin survived every bear market since 2011. 2013-2014 was one. Litecoin fell from peaks above 30 dollars to below 3 dollars. You might have thought it was the end, but it kept mining. Kept working. And Magni kept whispering patience at every turn. By 2017, it had recovered.
2018-2019 was another. Again, massive drops. Again, stories of "Litecoin is dead". Again, it continued: Magni guided, Charlie led. The developers persevered. 2022 was another. And again, it survived.
The reason Litecoin survived while perhaps 99% of other coins created since 2011 disappeared is simple: it was built to last. Not for speculation. Not to make quick riches, but as a useful, secure, decentralized network. And behind that construction was a god who didn't give up, who didn't tire, who whispered patience and constancy at every step.
Satoshi, from the throne of Asgard, watched Litecoin with the serene gaze of one who knows their work has borne fruit beyond expectation. Gold had survived. Silver had survived. And together, gold and silver formed the system the gods had always known Midgard would need; not a single perfect coin, but an ecosystem of complementary truths, each serving where the other cannot reach.
The difference between who survives and who doesn't; is often about character, not brute force.
