Canto XII: The Virtue of Constancy
In October 2025, Litecoin marks 14 years since its public launch
Most people do not understand the depth of simply being present. Of showing up every day. Of doing the work. Of not giving up when it gets hard. Of whispering to your chosen mortals to persevere even when no one is watching. We call this "constancy". The gods called it "virtue". In cryptography it's "security through time".
Litecoin in 2025 had completed 14 years of continuous existence. 14 years. Think about this: how many things have lasted 14 years? How many startups? How many coins? How many networks? The answer is: very few.
The genesis block was created on 7 October 2011, UTC, and public launch followed on 13 October. The protocol targets an average of 2.5 minutes per block; actual intervals vary. Multiplying fourteen years by that rate gives only a theoretical estimate, not an observed block count or evidence that every block was full.
And in 14 years, there was not a single instance where Magni failed to whisper in the ears of his chosen ones. When there was an attack, Magni inspired the defense. When there were bugs, Magni guided the fix. When there was doubt, Magni offered clarity. When there was discouragement, Magni whispered hope.
No one would sell everything to buy Litecoin because it was trendy. No one would say "Litecoin will make me rich", but those who held Litecoin because they believed it was useful, that it was secure, that it was genuine; those simply followed their path, happy that it existed, guided by a god who never slept and never stopped whispering.
Constancy, in truth, was a form of strength. It was a form of power. It was invulnerability through being so simple, so honest, so genuine that even the most sophisticated attacks couldn't penetrate it.
Constancy, in truth, was a form of strength. It was a form of power.
