Canto I: The Whisper of the Son
Magni whispers to Charlie Lee in a dream the vision of Litecoin with Scrypt, fast blocks, and 84 million coins
Magni did not descend to Midgard as gods usually do. Not in visible lightning. Not in thunder that frightens. He whispered.
In 2011, in an apartment in San Francisco, a young engineer named Charlie Lee worked at Google. He had security. He had comfort, but he also had a gap in his soul that money would not fill. And that night, while he slept, Magni entered his dream.
Not as a voice that shouts. As an understanding that is born. Charlie woke up knowing something he hadn't known before: that there was room for another cryptocurrency, that this cryptocurrency should be to Bitcoin as silver is to gold, that he; he, Charlie Lee; was the mortal chosen to fulfill that vision.
Magni whispered the vision in precise detail: A different algorithm, Charlie. Not SHA-256; Scrypt. One that demands memory, not just computation. So that no silicon giant could monopolize it. So that the common person with their common computer could mine, could participate, could be part of something great. Faster blocks, Charlie. Two and a half minutes instead of ten. So that transactions would be confirmed four times faster. So that silver would flow as it should flow. More coins in total, Charlie. Eighty-four million instead of twenty-one. Not to rival my father, but to complement him. So there would be abundance. So no one would need a fortune just to make a simple transaction, but above all, honesty, Charlie. Open source. A direct descendant of Bitcoin. No arrogance of creating something new from nothing. Only respect for what Satoshi did, and a humble extension of that vision.
Magni did not choose Charlie by chance. As Odin had chosen Satoshi with divine precision, Magni too had observed the mortals of Midgard for months before acting. Charlie Lee possessed something rare: the combination of technical competence and purity of intention. He did not seek wealth. He sought meaning. And when a god finds a mortal who seeks meaning above gold, he knows he has found his channel.
A different algorithm, Charlie. Not SHA-256; Scrypt. One that demands memory, not just computation.
